Taylorsville Dayzz

There are four holidays that Brandon's family loves to celebrate. They are: Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Taylorsville Dayzz. This year we started off our Taylorsville Dayzz celebrations with the parade. The route goes down 2700 west which is near my in-laws house. The parade isn't anything spectacular, but its nearby so I like to go to it.

This was my favorite float.

Brandon enjoying the parade.
Here I am with my nephews. They were really only interested in the candy that the politicians handed out. This is the float my in-laws stake has been doing. My in-laws have been helping with the float, but they haven't been involved in the decision making process. If they were then it would look a whole lot better. It looks okay, but it is lacking a unified theme. And I can't figure out why the pioneers on the back are dressed in space age fabric.
After the parade we hosted a baby shower for my sister-in law.
She is having a boy in August.
Then later that evening Brandon's friend came over and did a magic show for the kids. He is a clown named JubJub. He is really good with the kids and the magic is pretty convincing. Here is his website if you want to see some of his stuff.
We had our annual pot luck barbecue. This year we made punch from cranberry concentrate and sprite. Just like last year the thing we brought was a hit with the kids. (Of course they had been sitting in the sun watching JubJub for an hour so thirst might have something to do with it)
All the kids ended up under the table playing with this cute little dog. She was such a good sport to be carried around and fought over all afternoon.
Then we went to the park and waited for fireworks. There was a band playing Beetles music and the kids all danced in the grass to the music. I have video, but since these aren't my kids I wont put the video up here (Though Melanie, you have got to see the stuff I have of Wally dancing. It will come in handy as black mail in a couple years)
It got darker and then the fireworks started. Last year the fireworks were lame, and they were set to lame music. This year they must have fired the person in charge because the fireworks were back up to their usual qualtiy. I didn't get any pics of the fireworks because our camera doesn't capture them very well.
Once the fireworks were over we all headed back to my in-laws and set up tents in the back yard. Then we roasted marshmallows over this little fire.
It was about 11:30 at night and most of the kids were getting pretty surly so they didn't last long. But us adults stayed up until almost 2:00 just talking.
Then in the morning we all work up and had pancakes.
We had to get up pretty early and pack up the tent so we could get to our branch in Bountiful by 9:00. We made it with only a few seconds to spare. All in all this was another successful Taylorsville Dayzz celebration.
