I work with these people?

Here is the group Halloween picture for work. Everyone really got into dressing up this year. I think about only 20 people didn't dress up. I'm on the right side in the back next to the Witches. You can see me in my pilots hat.
Costumes of note: Miss Piggy on the far right is actually a guy (he probably will win the contest later today), the football player in the middle is a girl. Next to the football player is a pregnant nun with a Scarlet letter on her belly. (It's a balloon and I'm hoping it pops cause that would be entertaining.) Next to Miss Piggy is the Verizon "can you hear me now guy" He really looks like that guy. He is holding a knife that has "Can you fear me know" written on it. Not pictured is a Macey's employee with handcuffs (this is in reference to one of our employees who had some problems with Macey's security blaming him for stealing brownies. Charges were dropped later after we all signed a petition.)
I love working for a company with employees who have such a great senses of humor.

My friend Brittney had her mission farewell on Sunday. Brit is my sister's age, but she has always been my friend. At girls camp she would go along with whatever I was doing. She was always a good help when I needed something done. Later when I went to Snow College I taked her into applying there. She came and slept on my extra bed when she had to audition for a Drama sholarship. I initiated her into the world of college pranks by taking her with to "string" the yard of some boys in my ward. After I graduated from Snow she started her first year there. The next summer I moved back down to Ephraim to be a Youth Conference Councelor. I talked Brittney into working with me and being my roommate (she found the awesome house we lived in that summer). We had a super fun time and made a bunch of memories. After that summer I moved to Logan and met Brandon. At my wedding reception Brittney was one of the girls I choose to have sit at my sign in table. Now she is going on her mission to Bolivia.
Her farewell was great. It was at her singles ward. A lot of our friends from the 5th ward showed up. It was almost like a fifth ward reunion. Back before hardly any of us were old enough to date there was a group of us in the 5th ward who would hang out together. I remember watching the "Singles Ward" countless times with them. We would go toilet papering just about every weekend. Ward activities were always fun. Once we all ended up at a birthday party for a friend of mine. We were ALL squished on a couch and were laughing and joking together. Another girl from our stake came over and looked at us and said, "It that the Fifth ward? Are you guys always together?" To which we replied in unison, "YES."
We've moved away, gone to school, got married, and/or started carears since then. But whenever we are together we still have that old love and goofiness. I hope in a year and a half when Brittney comes home we will all be able to come together for her homecoming.

Halloween Cake: Better Homes and Gardens, eat your heart out

Brandon and I made this cake up all by ourselves. We didn't get the idea from a magazine or anything. We had to come up with a spooky dessert and we so we decided to make a "graveyard cake" Brandon made the Devil's food chocolate cake on Friday and then we decorated it on Saturday. We made chocolate frosting and covered it with chopped up green coconut for grass. Then we took wafer cookies and pushed them into the cake to look like tombstones. We had fun carving them into different shapes. We put bone shaped candy around the graveyard (we also tried baking the bones into the cake but we think they dissolved). Candy pumpkins and fall leaf sprinkles completed the look. We also tried to make a weeping willow out of Twizzlers but I think it ended up looking like the plants that grow on "War of the Worlds." If I made the cake again I would leave the weeping willow off. We also put spider rings around the pan, and put a bat ring in the tree. The cake was a huge hit, especially with my nephews who couldn't keep their hands off it. To be fair they also added more pumpkins to the graveyard. When I cut the cake I cut it up by plots. That way everyone could have at least one tombstone.

Halloween Fun

Halloween is a week away and so far we have been to two parties.

I came up with the idea that we should have an airplane theme to our costumes. Brandon being a pilot would be too predictable, so I thought I should be the pilot and Brandon should be the flight attendant. Brandon was all for that so we got to work. We bought the hat at the http://www.buycostumes.com/ and most of the clothes at the DI. Brandon sewed the little flaps onto my costume and I sewed four ribbons together to make the stripes. Brandon also designed the patch for his shirt and I sewed it.

We wore the costumes to our ward Halloween party and to Brandon's family party.

The ward party was so fun. We carved pumpkins and made Carmel apples (I've never made Carmel apples before and I thought it was super fun.) At the Illguth party we ate scary food and played a couple games. Brandon and I won the apple eating contest. It was mainly through my heroic eating of the entire bottom half of the apple, core and all!

Brandon's ring

That last post has a picture of our wedding rings. Take a good look at Brandon's ring because you may never see it again. He lost the ring at work on Tuesday. He works for the grounds crew at USU and was planting some bushes. The ring started out on his hand and then it was gone. So we figure it is now buried in the dirt.
He's lost the ring before. In February we were playing in the snow at the Logan tabernacle and the ring slipped off his hand as he threw a snow ball at me. We had to wait six weeks for the snow to melt before we found the ring. I don't think we will get that lucky this time. (Though I guess we could wait for a landslide or something.)
I bought that ring on overstock.com for less than a hundred dollars so it's not a big deal to replace it. Still any other ring will not have the same emotional meaning. I jokingly told Brandon that I'm going to buy a ring that looks just like the old one and then "find" the ring in his pocket as I'm doing laundry. That way we can lie to ourselves that it is the same ring.
I looked on Overstock yesterday and couldn't find any tungsten rings exactly like it. So until he can decide what else to get we are still holding on to some hope that the ring can be found.

More Wedding Pictures

Emily gets married in a month! I am so excited. Working on her wedding reminds me of how much I loved mine. So here are more wedding pictures.

Halloween

While looking for some other files Brandon and I came across these pictures from last Halloween. We were rock stars last year. We had so much fun getting our costumes ready. We had been dirt poor for a couple months and all of our money was basically going toward rent and food. Buying these clothes at the DI and the wig at a Halloween store in Logan represented the first splurges in a long time.
