Labor Day we stained the headboard.
Here is the original paint on the wood.
Here is the sanded wood.

Nothing was showing so I cheated. I had these casserole dishes.

Imagine all the changes that will take place within the next 3 years.
I sanded down the wood. I'm so glad I bought this sander for "Brandon." (Please ignore the Saturday hair in this picture)
Sanded wood
Here Brandon is laying out the head board. He planned it out so well and even made little spacers so the wood would stay 2 inches apart.
The Dewalt Drill makes a well deserved Cameo
Brandon putting together the headboard. I helped too.
Oh to have a garage. . . . and to be able to flip pictures in blogger
The before pictures . . .
The after pics . . .
We'll stain it as soon as I get paid. But we didn't want to wait until then to see the finished product.
First I cut strips about 5 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. Then I sewed them all together.
I pressed all the seams.
Brandon (the patient one) cut out the matting from poster board.
If I had done this part it would not have been straight.
Then I cut the fabric to the length of the matting and cut a 45 degree angle for each corner. (This was totally guesstimated I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did)
I glued the fabric to the matting with Elmer's glue.
And Ta Da! A colorful fleece matting.
Here is the picture I put in the frame. Sorry I don't have a pic of the two together. (click it to see a larger image)
Just what is a girl to do when she is a college graduate in economics; a wife to an aviation enthusiast; and the mother of four children age nine and under? I'm not sure, but I am trying to figure it out. Read along as I find out where I fit in the world.
